This group focuses upon sanitation systems enabling nutrient reuse, mainly by source separation. The full range from high- over medium- to low-tech and from decentralised to centralised solutions is covered. "Resources-oriented sanitation" is understood in the same way as "sustainable sanitation" (such as defined by the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance (SuSanA, www.susana.org) and "ecological sanitation", respectively.
The objective of the Specialist Group is to bring forward scientific knowledge on the theme, to facilitate conferences and workshops and to create a network of interested IWA experts in this field.
Membership of the Specialist Group is open to all IWA members, either individually or through their employer. All Specialist Group Officers and members of management committees must be
members of IWA.
The Specialist Group will undertake the following activities:
o Prepare newsletters of Group activities and developments
o Convene conferences and workshops
o Initiate research papers and investigations
o Improve networking among interested IWA experts
